I did finish the engine and you are correct about the valve. I used the dimensions that are used for the Clishay valve and it works great. The engine runs well and I have fabricated the reverse linkage that was not on the original drawing.

Its for water connections at the rear tank and hand pump and is over the rear truck and calculated from the rear end of the plate. See dimension at the very lower left.
