Re: Anyone up for a game of name that machining accessory?
First pic, items A, H, I appear to be Armstrong tool posts for Armstrong tools. You might have a rocker which is shaped like the rocker on a rocking chair but flat across the top. It fits in the tool post and the Armstrong tool holder sits on top of it so that it can be "rocked" to adjust ...

Re: Anyone like shapers?
The Shape-Right indeed does have a VFD in the wall box at the upper left in the picture.

Re: Anyone like shapers?
Here is a very nice sized 8in Shape-Right shaper for the home shop. Really works well and is fun to watch, so the owner says.

Re: Yet another WHATZIT?
ChipsAhoy is the closest guesser. My friend who was a plant manager/mover/closer for Kennemetal rescued this fixture from the old Cleveland Twist Drill plant. It was/is used to measure the depth of the fluting on a twist drill. It could also be used to measure the web thickness at various locations....

Yet another WHATZIT?
Probably not many have seen a fixture like this one, so whatzit? In picture 2, the micrometer end is pointed.

Re: Left handed lathe, for lack of a better name
I think it has more to do with the camera and user. If you change the camera to the lens on the display side, ie selfie, you get a reversed picture.

Re: collets
Using Sandman's dimensions, none of the ER collet dimensions given on the SHAR tool website match. ER40 is too big and ER32 is too small.
It will be interesting to know what you find out.

Sorry I got interrupted when I was commenting last night.
Hard to get DraftSight to do this. But relatively easy for OnShape. --earlgo

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
The last job I was hired at used SolidWorks, and fortunately I had just taken a class in that. After a couple of years as a contractor the company hired me because I was able to use SW as well as, if not better than, their regular employees. I stayed there 9 years made a few thousand drawings, train...

Re: A question about engineering drawings....
Having been a mechanical design engineer for some 45 odd years, I have never done a drawing with 2 similar views on the same page, nor have I ever remembered seeing one. I suppose the double views might be useful if there are so many dimensions related to the view that it might be clearer to do that...

Re: Advice On Buying A Wiggler and Centre Finder 5 Piece Set.
I built a wiggler similar to what Mr. Mowbray describes. The picture is missing the long end but it is very useful. The pivot point can be adjusted depending on the amount of accuracy one needs. If the lengths are 10 to 1 then a .001 deviation shows a very visible .010 at the long end, wiggler.jpg I...

My rule is: wiggler on the drill press, edge finder on the mill.
