Re: Dumpster Diving
Some of the best dumpster diving was when I lived/worked at a ritzy yacht yard in West Palm Beach. Some of the finds included 200' of 3/8 galvanized anchor chain. About 20 ft on one end was worn and rusty, the rest fine. A case of unopened Epifanes varnish.A Simpson Lawrence anchor windlas that was a...

Re: VFD question
I have five Teco FM50 VFD's to allow me to run 3ph machines off single phase 220v. They not only give variable speed but soft start, braking and the switching on/off. A switch between the VFD and motor is a no-no. Very happy with them.

Re: Show us your lathe!
Here's my addition to the thread. Got it from a local gunsmith. It had a few issues that I found after I started trying to use it. First was the Reeves variable speed drive not working very well (hardly at all). Will post a separate thread on dealing with that. The obligatory before and after shots....

Re: Lathe with t slot cross slide
I have a 10x 36 Rockwell lathe.I made a new crosslide from a piece of iron from Speedy metals. For most operations when the compound isn't needed I have a solid block that the quick change mounts on. Made a solid holder for a insert type parting blade on the backside. Thrilled with the results , and...
