Re: Deckel SO tool Cutter Grinder... Should I?

Just my 2 cents worth... They are difficult to use, at least IMHO

You don't hog off material with this thing... it's slow and easy.

Re: Bridgeport Right Angle Attachment (at last)

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but could you talk about your 386 mill here or in another thread?

I like the idea very much, but have read about many problems with the machine and its support.

I would really like to get one, but am very unsure of it.

thanks for reading. :? :?

Re: small cutoff saw

Finally got around to attempting to make a small cutoff saw with a commercial portable bandsaw. I started with a DeWalt deep-throat model, a high-quality unit which was suited to what I needed. I had a problem in that the power cord came out directly from the rear of the handle, which didn't let me ...

Re: small cutoff saw

Being the frugal fellow that I am, I bought the Harbour Freight version about 4 years ago ($59.95 on-sale) and it has served me well. My only criticism is, as other's have said, the noise. Mine is mounted (like the picture attached) on a piece of Baltic birch plywood and fits nicely under a workben...

Re: Thoughts on private messages

I don't know how or why, I didn't get a notice , e-mail or private message, for this PM, though they seem to be checked in PREFERENCES.

Or maybe I missed it.

Not having gotten one, I don't know what to look for.

Re: small cutoff saw

I came to most of your points already, but making it out of wood first was a good idea that I'll use.

Thanks for your words.

Re: small cutoff saw

I do not recommend the deep cut portaband. it is unbalanced in use, the saw always feels like it wants to fall over. . I plan to use it exclusively in a "falling bandsaw" mode, like "gunboatbay" has in his picture. so would the balance still be a problem in that instance? It is ...

Re: small cutoff saw

Nice job of fabricating. Since this setup only cuts to 1/2" of the bottom, and crooked besides, I'm afraid I'll just have to send it back... the shipping will not please my wife... Does yours cut the piece thru? I think I'll try to make one like yours, as I can control the quality and geometry....

Re: small cutoff saw

Google 48-08-0260 It is the part number for a Milwaukee stand. It seems limited, fine for perpendicular cuts, but no angle capability. The clamp is similar to a chain vise. The goofy clamp may actually be nice for irregular shapes. I've seen the Milwaukee stand, and the clamp won't do. If you find ...

Re: small cutoff saw

Last catalog ENCO had both Milwakee and Dewalt saws like that, now all they have is a Rong fu. on all of them the saw is mounted the opposite of what yours is. the back handle part of the saw is mounted on the pivot and the front end cuts down. for the saw to be useable without the stand the saw wi...

Re: small cutoff saw

The first pic is poor but the second one is worthless. Not so! It's obvious that the teeth are shown as if the blade cuts towards the moveable jaw, but on the down stroke, not the up stroke. Harold By "up" I mean that the piece is pulled upward by the blade during the cut, which I think c...
