I stopped using my South Bend 9A QCGB (except for threading) and reversing lever after installing a variable speed reversible DC motor to the leadscrew.

For that $300 spent on an attachment, one could get a used round column for not much more or the HF mini mill on sale now for approx $500 with 20% coupon. Consider an ER25 collet chuck and set of collets for about $50 from ebay. The collets will hold all your drill bits and end mills up to 5/8"...

A 1/4" DOC in A36 with that mill is amazing! What kind of end mill did you use?
