Re: Heat treating oven?

These are really nice furnaces. I used to use one when I was working in the Model Shop of a company in San Diego years ago. The programable ones are exceptionally nice.

Here are a few of the thing I've been making. Top End Oiling kits for Suzuki air cooled inline fours, circa early to mid 80's. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/TopEndOilerKits008.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/TopEndOilerKits012.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/G...

Thumbs up to Arrogant Bastard.
Come to think of it, Stone is about to run their annual batch of Double Bastard. Can't wait.

3 AT collet angle

Does anyone know what the angle of the head of a 3AT collet? I'm getting about 15 deg., but my collets are slightly sprung so I not sure if it really is.
Thanks, GDB

Jose - Congrats on the grinder. I made a bit of a mistake going too small. I figured my little Sanford would be just fine because the stuff I make is generally small, but there are lots of fixtures and setups I can't get under the wheel, so I suppose it's a matter of time before I move up to a bigg...

Got to agree with Harold on this. Telescoping gauges are easy & accurate, (to a couple tenths). And true, smaller bores are easier to gauge with this method. I tend to use them as checks to my ID mics, i.e. measuring with more than just one device. My internal mics go from 1.5 to 36.00, plus I t...

Finally got some photos. Had to buy a new camera (the wife lost my old one). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/FREEMATERIAL01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/FREEMATERIAL04.jpg Mostly C1018 and a few chunks of 4130. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/FREECASTIRON03...

You guys would have died if you had seen how much steel we had hauled off on Wednesday. Probably about 20,000 lbs of tubing, plate, bar and structural shapes. My shop is no longer doing weldments hence no need to stock the material (according to mgmt.). I did manage to "salvage" close to 6...

First get the part close by eye. Lean a scale against the part with your indicator touching the scale at part center line. Slowly rotate chuck by hand. The corners of the part will push the scale out as you rotate. Adjust chuck to get the part true. Using the scale will stop the corners of the part ...

Thanks. No, not a Rockwell. It's a Benchmaster that I permanently grafted a Rusnok Model 70 milling head to. Tha original head didn't have a quill. This one does, albeit only about 1.75 inches worth. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/Benchmasterside.jpg I made the ram and overarm that the ...

Just a few photos of some of my "helpers". http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/GregB/TABLESTOP.jpg A little table mounted stop. Been needing this for a long time and finally got around to making it. Also, you can see the rubber chip guard I mounted to mill. Keeps the chips off of the &qu...
