Thanks for the kind words, figuring it out is half the fun!

Re: Just added a Trav A Dial to my lathe

It's like an infinite dial indicator for the carriage.

Just added a Trav A Dial to my lathe

Just finished adding a Trav (A) Dial to my Craftsman 12"x 24" lathe, and thought I would share some pictures in case anyone else was thinking about doing this. I was very lucky to get this one at a great price, wish I could afford to put them on all my machines. Love keeping my toys old sc...

Re: Re-purposing Turret Lathe Knurling Head

No, I have not tried it out yet. I just weighed it, and it comes in at just under 6 pounds. I have a smaller scissor type knurler but it only goes up to about 0.400"

Re: Re-purposing Turret Lathe Knurling Head

Nice, I've got one much like that. I mount it in a 1" boring bar holder so it still allows something like 5/8" pass through. Russ, yes, I thought of that first, but my boring bar holder only takes a 3/4" max bar, and I wanted something a little larger. I bored an over-sized 3/4"...

Re-purposing Turret Lathe Knurling Head

I picked up a Warner & Swasey M-940 knurling head form a shop closing for like nothing, and was able to adapt it to my Craftsman 101.21200 lathe. I cut off the shank up into the body to the 1.625" bore and made an adapter out of aluminum to fit my quick change tool post set at the right hei...

Re: Lathe Following Chip Guard

How did you curve (or where did you get) the plexiglas? Steve Steve, I made a form out of 3 2x10's with about a 8 1/2" diameter. I heated the acrylic up in the oven on a cookie sheet at about 350 degrees until it started to bend, and held it over the form, covered with some tin foil, until it ...

Lathe Following Chip Guard

In a effort to cut down on the chips flying everywhere on my lathe, I made a chip guard that is attached to the carriage of my Craftsman 101.21200 (6x18 Mk2) lathe. When I had the carriage off to drill and tap for the ways wipers I previously made, I also drilled and tapped holes on the back of the ...

Atlas M6-700 Taper Attachment

Since my birthday is coming up, I thought I would treat myself to a new toy for my Craftsman 101.21200 6" lathe. I didn't even know that made them for these lathes, but I do see it in a catalog from the 50's I know I could have made one, or bought an after-market one, but there is just somethin...

Re: New Linley Jig Bore group

I finally finished the restoration of my Linley and got it down into my shop. I still need to make thumb screws for the X and Y axes and probably a belt guard, but I am happy with it. My brother-in-law gave me the Bridgeport #2 boring head, so that was a bonus! Below are some pictures, and I also up...

New Linley Jig Bore group

Hey Guys, I have mentioned here that I had picked up a Linley Jig Bore in the spring, and have finally gotten around to starting the restoration. Since there is not much information on these great little machines, I thought I would start a Yahoo Group. If you have one of these machines, or or intere...
