Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge

Hi, we know that problem Peter, our Y6b was about 8 years unpainted in service. But it is such alot work to keep all the brass shiny and clean, an advantage is , a good(!) painting upgrades the loco . You can ruin the best builded loco with a bad painting. We will painting the J for sure, i like tho...

Hey Guys, In full anticipation of the next visit to the USA in May, I would like to show you some progress on the 611, the streamlined cladding is now ready except for the boiler tapes. The next step will only be to lift off the kettle and make the lower cladding. Can't wait a few days on the route ...

Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge

Hey Bull, thats not a Problem, 3 hours of cleaning after a run day is a normal procedure. We do it with industrial cleaner in a spray bottle and brush. Taking out the grates , and cleaning the ashpan with vacuumcleaner. The only problem of cleaning the J will be the smokechamber, but we will find a s...

Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge

Hi folks, after finally getting a CAD program I was able to make the J characteristic nose. I did not want to do the work of a sheet metal construction, so I opted for a CNC construction from scratch. To be able to soak the raw material on the mill, I had to prick a groove. Then it went to the proce...
