Published Caliper Accuracy Specs (Mit)

I see Mitutoyo 8:" digital caliper accuracy spec is 0.001" and 0.01 mm. Metric measurements are published as being more than twice as accurate and equal to resolution. Why is that? Mitutoyo 500-475 Digital Calipers, Solar Powered, Inch/Metric, for Inside, Outside, Depth and Step Measurements, Stainl...

Re: High Flow Shower Hose

WoW! I didn't know they made a shower sized Waterpik! You guys take clean seriously... My shower head is like 5" diameter and has about 50 rubber nipples that shoot water. That is fine but the valve is a single handle that you twist more for hotter, so it just goes on full blast. Sometimes I like to...

Re: Is there a Civil Engineer in the house?

I suspect that the left side of the span is anchored to the pillar and the right side is designed to float and that is probably an expansion joint.

oh, what STRR said...

Re: Syil Machines

The Syil VMC is listed at $50. He just showed me a quote for a Haas SMINIMILL2 VMC for $56k.

Any suggested option?

Re: Syil Machines

I saw a thread at PM and the first response was about locking the thread due to the impending pandemonium... It actually did not turn out too bad, but was a little old. I suspect they want to be better than Tormach, but are probably the same, without the large user base and unknown support. I was al...

Syil Machines

Hi All,

A friend is considering a VMC for a small business. Any info on Syil? Are these on par with Tormach or closer to Haas? I looked briefly at their VMC price is ~$50k.

Re: Setting the compound at 0* or 30*

why is the cross slide used as a reference and not the spindle axis? I thought "American" style was to leave it at 90.

Re: Diagnosing a Milling Machine problem

Too soft? I’m still trying to figure that one out. Maybe. I can see if it was too hard it wouldn’t flex enough... There are witness marks in the collet and on the OD of the cutter, but not vertical. There is evidence the tool has spun a little, but not much. I also notice that this cutter in this p...
