Re: WTB a 3-4 in duplex boiler pump

Is there an easy way to search for stuff on this blog?
Use Google. If you add "site:chaski.org" (without the quotes) to your search, Google will limit the search to this forum. For example:

Re: Centering Disc on Vertical Rotary Table?

Doing that makes absolutely no sense. (to me!) Doing what? I'm getting confused! Setting up the rotary table/part with it horizontal and then flip it to vertical to do the work... I agree. That's why I tried to suggest a way to center the part on the rotary table with the rotary table oriented vert...

Re: Centering Disc on Vertical Rotary Table?

This seems to me like a more direct way to get where you need to be than aligning both the rotary table and the disk to the spindle. The method that I described allows you to accurately zero your dials (or DRO) at the center of rotation if other features need to be accurately placed. Good point! Fr...

Re: Centering Disc on Vertical Rotary Table?

Would the following steps work? 1. Mount the rotary table vertically as you need it to do the work. 2. Bolt the disk to the rotary table so that it's snug but can still be moved around. 3. Set up a dial test indicator so that it rides against the edge of the disk. 4. Adjust (tap, tap, tap) the posit...

Can you give more detail here? What exactly do you mean by "doesn't close properly"?

Also helps if you're trying to install countersunk rivets exactly exactly exactly flush with the surface.
