Re: Expansion fixture for the lathe

Looks like the idea cam from Harold, not Glenn. One thing-----when one needs an internal collet, it's made easy enough by just tapping with a tapered pipe tap, then a pipe plug can be used. No real need to make a special bolt as you did, but then that doesn't surprise me. The hole is tapped before t...

  • What's your time worth as a machinist?
  • How long would it take you to build a model like that?
  • Multiply the two numbers together.
There's your answer.

Re: KING complex mill/drill DM-30 motor questions

You're welcome. Just be aware that the terminal numbers on the drum switch might be different if your drum switch isn't the same as the one in the wiring diagram.

Re: KING complex mill/drill DM-30 motor questions

Welcome to the forum! Click here for an old thread that will probably help. The motor shown there looks to be the one horsepower version of your motor. I can also confirm that it has a sticker on the inside of the wiring cover that matches yours exactly. If you're running the mill on 110 volts and y...

Re: Did I buy a milling machine or a mistake?

There is a single compression spring that fell out of the head. I can't figure out where that came from. Okay. I managed to scan the manual into three files instead of one. Hopefully they will be small enough to upload. Also, hopefully the parts diagram will help you identify the spring that fell o...

Re: Did I buy a milling machine or a mistake?

Any idea how I can stop the spindle from rotating to try and take this off? On my mill (which we think is similar to yours), there are a couple of set screws that will lock the spindle from turning. There's a related discussion and some info from the Enco "manual" near the end of this thr...

Re: Did I buy a milling machine or a mistake?

I also have what looks to be the same mill, also inherited from my dad who bought it new in the 80s. Mine is branded as an Enco model 91000, and is similar (if not identical) to the Rong Fu RF-30. I have the "manual" that was supplied by Enco, but it's too big to upload here. If you need s...

Okay. Here are the pictures. Like Bill, I didn't have to jump through any particular hoops to view them. Then for the record, as Bill says, to upload pictures first hit the FULL EDITOR AND PREVIEW button. Then select the ATTACHMENTS tab, then ADD FILES, and then follow your nose to complete the uplo...

Re: Rail Bender

Sometimes a Google search works better than the search built into the forum software. Type the following query (without the quotes) into Google and see if you don't get more and/or better results:

"rail bender site:chaski.org"

Re: New Knurling tool

Very nice. I've seen plans for similar tools where they suggested hardening some of the parts. I don't remember the details, but I'm wondering if you did anything similar?
