Re: WTB Rockwell vertical milling machine

As a happy 21-120 owner I can say they are great machines for their size...
I use mine exclusively as a horizontal.
When and if you find one make sure you get a good look at the base cabinet.
My base cabinet has the vertical head in it.

Happy hunting and good luck

Tool post grinders.

Here are 2 tool post grinders to test the waters to see if they have any value. https://imgur.com/a/W5E9c9L The first is what I was sure was a South Bend... It seems like there was a sticker but I cant find it now. It was used on a 12" Clausing 5914 and did a wonderful job for several years... ...

Re: Looking for info on a Burke

With mills like that the head usually come off when you remove the 4 bolts between the head and ram. Keep in mind you get all the weight of the head as soon as you pull it off the post in the center of the ram. Im working on a grizzly that spent a couple years in the weather. It was no where as roug...

Re: Help Wiring Lathe

Here is a video that learned me how to wire reversible motors to a drum switch. It is a little slow... learning to draw the diagrams simplified everything for me. Heck I drew the 6 dot pictures and wired a motor this afternoon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKXwXLEaXek Oh yeah... in reverse a chuc...

Re: Casting sand

Today I found time to work on some castings. Pictures https://imgur.com/a/t26byF1 First I refreshed my petro bond and did couple brass castings . I also tried casting brass in the play sand green sand. After trying and failing to make green sand with play sand and kitty litter I bought some bentonit...

Re: Casting sand

Thank you for the suggestions gentlemen. The majority of my 200 pounds came from https://petrobondforsale.com/ Unfortunately that gentleman will not respond to questions unless there is money involved. In a different place I found Petrobond II binder powder and oil in small quantities. It is sitting...

Re: Casting sand

Lazz, some play sand, especially the white stuff sold at the big box stores, is limestone. No good for green sand casting. A good source for bentonite is your local well driller. You'll have to research this because it was hear say to me, but I heard that PetroBond could be rejuvenated with 2 cycle...
