Re: HF 5980 3 in 1 Mill Chuck Stuck
I have a Tri-Power that uses the R8 collets and what I do is to remove the drawbolt and use a garage door spring tensioner tool in its place to whack. I even have a grommet around the tool to that it does not fall through when the collet pops out. https://www.amazon.com/Winding-Torsion-Stainless-Mec...

Re: Smithy 1220XL power feed turning
Have you looked at the power feed set-up used on the ShopTask Tri-power and Eldorado machines? My machine has this feature.

Re: Should I disassemble my new 9729
If you disassemble a "Chinese" machine, keep track of every bolt and screw and where it goes. I have found that they will grind down screws and bolts on occasion to avoid interference with other parts. If you get it wrong, things don't quite go back together as they were and this can lead ...

Re: Shoptask belt sizes.
Ok, again that wasn't stated earlier. All of that is relevant information. There's a dro showing and no cnc control, yes there's what appears to be a stepper drive on the front lower right hand side of the lathe bed. Without knowing it's also cnc one could assume that was some type of separate add ...

Re: Smithy Granite 1324-I MX Help
Blowing the breaker may not be the motor or controller at all. On my ShopTask Tri-Power (may even be the same 2 HP motor), the bearings on the quill got tight and the extra resistance was enough to blow the wall breaker every time I would turn on the mill. I had the bearings replaced and it fixed th...

We've done this several times, including their monthly full moon, moonlight trek. Some of the nicest scenery for any railroad.

Re: New G9729 - Some early issues.
Doing selective hand fitting of parts like this until you find something that works at the factory during assembly still seems like a strange way to run any production line though. Interchangeable parts by properly controlling the manufacturing tolerances was one of the reasons that idea was invent...

Re: New G9729 - Some early issues.
Somewhere out there, a sister to your machine has a gib with a .072" taper and a table with a .052" taper... Lol, I was thinking that too! Someone on this board once said "When you buy a Chinese lathe, you are buying a lathe kit." There is some truth to that. Glad to hear Grizzl...
