I just picked up an old MY-T-Mig 1882 welder. I need a manual and wondered if anybody had one or if they knew who built these welders. Someone said SnapOn used to sell them, but I e-mailed them and they didn't respond.

It might be worth the effort to try the adhesive if you don't have access to anyone who can weld the aluminum. As someone else suggested using round cake pans for the ends and rolling your metal rather than bending might work well and it would give you 1"to 2" to glue and maybe add a coupl...
