Re: Gauge blocks
I too have an "offshore set that has served me extremely well over the past years. I agree with the above statement from Tim "the grim,'" unless you are doing work for NASA, or Boeing, a well kept set should last you for years. I am retired Dimensional Metrologist, and calibrated many...

Re: Your 3 in 1 (Any Brand) will be as good as YOU make it.
Ken, Very true, but to take your post one step further, I retired from the machinists trade after 30 years as a dimensional metrologist, calibrating measuring instruments, and many younger guys start out buying lesser expensive measuring tools, and asking if it will last. My reply always was, ... &q...

Wavy washers
I hope this question is in the correct forum, as I have an application to utilize a wavy washer. The posed question is: How does someone determine the tensile strength /compression value of a wavy washer. My 19th Edition machinery's Handbook says nothing about the wavy washers. Does anyone in the fo...

Re: Rotary table Lubrication
Thanks to Steve, BadDog, and Patio. Yes, the instruction manual shows the exploded view, and there are two plain bearings one top under table and the other on the bottom housing held by the nut. True, its no Troyke (lust, lust) but for my purposes, it should do, until it wears out. It is not oil fil...

Rotary table Lubrication
I just purchased a new rotary table. It has "oil ports" on it. The movement is astoundingly smooth in both forward and reverse. I have contacted the factory but [obviously] they do not speak any other language other than their own. I have read, in forums how so many have purchased "of...

6A2C Diamond/CBN wheels
I purchased a Tool Grinder, and tossed the green wheels that came stock with it. It also came with a Norton D6A2C mounted on the right. I would like to know if anyone has used the cheap Chinese CBN6A2c wheels...OR, what most purchase that will run true. Norton wheels go for $737.00 and others are al...
