Re: Quick Intro and Question about my T5980

Hey LX, Sorry it's taken a while to come back to this. Been working on my CNC Machine that I built. Haven't really been playing too much with the 3 in 1, mainly because I'm dreading taking it apart to get the motors worked, or to clean and lube the entire thing. But I am able to get it running and g...

Re: Replacement parts/upgrades for HF 3 in 1

Warning taken. And yes, I was using the drill bit for wood and some aluminum, only because I didn't have anything to switch over to. But I live, I learn, I improve, and don't use a drill chuck anymore for metal milling..lol. I'll start looking for collets for it. I'd really love to find collets that...

Here's a picture of the whole thing.. you can see the rod that connects into the arbor, and eventually goes up thru the gear pulley on the top.

Re: Replacement parts/upgrades for HF 3 in 1

Torch, sch, Thanks for your comments. Okay, so I guess it is called an arbor by everyone that is not @ Northern Tool or Harbor Freight. They call it a drill taper stock, and is item number: ITI143352A7 from their parts warehouse. I've gone ahead and ordered 2 of them, because If I screw one up, I ma...

Replacement parts/upgrades for HF 3 in 1

Hey all, Just wanted to post a follow up. Ken sent me some great manuals on cleaning and maintenance, and I've got it all back together and working great. However, I have a problem with the Taper Shank, and Drill Chuck, atleast thats what I think they're called. Anyways, the taper shaft is really pi...

Re: caveman electronic repairs

Thats about where I am sitting. My father was a machinist, and fixed everything around the house. He did his best to teach us everything we know. And now i'm doing the same thing. In the latest book I'm reading, Insisting on the Impossible - A book about Edwin Land, and how he built the Polaroid cor...

Quick Intro and Question about my T5980

Hey all, I hope to spend alot of my time on this board. I just picked up a T5980 off of CL for 400 bucks. Not too bad, as something I can use to do some light work, and try to remember everything my father taught me 20+ years ago about shop work. While that is a long long story, This is kinda short ...
