Surface Grinder to Tool Grinder

Guys, Is there any type of tool post mount that I can attached to the table of my small Rockwell surface grinder that will allow me to cut/sharpen my lathe and shaper bits? I have the option of picking up an old Devlieg MicroBit tool cutter but it is as large as my surface grinder and when you consi...

Re: Devlieg MicroPoint Tool cutter

Mite,

The other thing I was thinking was to use some form of tool holder which I could attach to my Rockwell surface grinder. Seems the Rockwell machine that I have has a simillar looking machine that is a tool grinder.

Has anyone tried out using a surface grinder to grind tool bits?

Devlieg MicroPoint Tool cutter

Does anyone have any experience with or shine some light on the Devlieg MicroPoint tool cutter? I am looking at a used one in good condition which I can get for a song. It is minus tool holders. I want a machine to make cutter bits for my lathes, mill, shapers, what have you. This is what I would ca...

Lufkin Micrometer Adjustment

I got a small Lufkin #1911 micrometer along with some other used tooling. After cleaniing it up I notice that when fully closed it reads .0001. What means if any is there to adjust out this error? The Thimble can be completely unscrewed and removed. On the outside of the rear of the thimble, the but...

Re: 2 gallon Flood type coolant system from Harbor Fre

I am using the Harbor Freight pump mentioned earlier. They run from $25 to $30 depending on sales. It has been the power behind my parts wash for about 3-4 years. I run Stoddard fluid through it and it works great. I was needing to get a pump for my 12X16 horizontal bandsaw. When I got it the previo...

Re: More Drill and Bit Grinding

Mike, OK on the book. I sure thank all of you for the info. I think what I will do first is to read up on the subject as much as possible. Step #2 will be to get one of the drill jig holders and try a few drills for starters. The cutting bits for my lathe and shaper will be next. I still keep lookin...

Re: arbor support

If you are looking for an arbor support for a #2 Cincinnati mill please try Destiny Machinery www.destinymach@msn.com 727-376-2399. Dennis has one that I sent back to him. I am disappointed with him though since it has been two months now and he keeps forgetting to refund the $150 I paid for it.

More Drill and Bit Grinding

OK, I did not seem to stir up any comments on the Harbor Freight Drill Bit Grinder ($600 import machine) so I was wondering if someone has a idea on where I can find info perhaps on the internet on the proper technique of bit sharpening. A refresher on sharpening cutting bits for my lathe wouldn't h...

Re: Cincinnati #2 - Comments??

OK John. Well I am in no hurry to dispose of the machine but I do need to send back the arbor support while I got the ok to do so. We have been discussing this for weeks and since he told me this past Monday to send it back I want to get my money back and run. He didn't have to since it was my fault...
