Re: ID these small lights
The bezels appear to be missing, they look to have been hot! Either one or more of the lenses are too small, and/or partially deformed due to heat. Mike, second photo, lamp on right. Between the green abd white lens on the top rounded section. Appears to be a cast-in pocket or indentation. Is that w...

And, used to classify the particular train, the lenses should be the same color.

Isn’t that the other way around, Russ?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a slide valve engine with the outside steam pipes from smokebox to the top of the valves.
There were a few inside admission K27’s without the outside steam pipes. Very strange looking.

Re: Rail Bender
If you do not roll your aluminum rail, and use the light aluminum rail joiners, and do not adequately install your trackage to prevent side to side movement as it expands and contracts, you will find the rail joints will kink. If it’s slight, it may go back into position. But if enough tensile stren...

Re: Track Tamping Tools
The C&IG uses two tamping tools. First however, as mentioned above the base is adjusted, leveled and plate compacted, and relevelled as necessary, using a mirror. Track panels are laid and connected, aligned, then ballast is added. We have moved to 3/4” instead of 1/2” as it holds better, doesn’...

Re: RGS Goose#7
Hi Dave, Beautiful vehicles! Congratulations! The box bodies were removed to enable the Geese to be used in the final and sad ending to the RGS. Scrapping. I built a three truck Number 4, and tried unsuccessfully to create the original Pierce Arrow front fenders from fiberglass. A couple had them, a...

Not sure where you are headed, but unless that loco is on a barge you might be in trouble!

Re: Headlights for Diesels
Hi Greg, Nelson Reidel cut the business end off mag light flashlights and used them. Being a diesel you can use the plastic reflector with no danger of overheating like on a steam engine. He turned down the outside of the bezel so it would fit inside a 2” piece of exhaust pipe for the loco headlight...

Re: 20 and 30lb horizontial propane tanks - good deal
Just remember.
The vertical tanks are NOT designed to be operated in the horizontal position. There was an earlier thread on this.
The internal piping is different.
