You may find this site interesting ,I always set the eccentrics in pairs on a simple jig this requires a good standard of accuracy when manufacturing the gear.

"...conventional water tube boiler..."? Did you mean a "fire tube boiler"? That's conventional for most steam locomotives. Nice locomotive you built! ~RN I think the correct description is conventional loco type boiler as opposed to the Briggs type boiler ,fire tube is a new one...

I have been running one of these for 4 years so i think i can comment from first hand experience. By fitting longer and much heavier springs and longer studs to the pony truck and new nylon rubbing pads to the top plate the pony tuck steers the engine nicely relying on the friction between the pads ...

I think the best way to loosen in would be a center pop or small chisel just support the spindle you can replace the nut.

I am in the UK and i am looking for decals or transfers for a 3 3/4 steamer,as it is a American style engine (RMI Sweet creek )i would like to use a American road name for the tender.

I like the sound of Nickle Plate Road so can any body point me at a supplier for these who would ship to the UK.
