Re: oilless compressors

I needed an indoor low output oil less. Chose this as no one could stand the noise of equivalent output noise makers. https://www.amazon.com/Makita-AC001-Compact-Air-Compressor/dp/B00SCSBPQA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1537545881&sr=8-6&keywords=makita+air+compressor Three years of intermitte...

That is so great. Makes me feel good to see kids actually working with their hands instead of staring at an electronic device. Carry on.

Re: 60° v block

Just FYI, in a previous job we/I had a 60 degree 1" mic for a particular 3 flute job. It was a Starrett thimble 0.0001" carbide faced and when worn the cost to resurface the anvils resulted in a new mic. It was a lot more than $100 though. Currently, this $201 is the cheapest on Amazon; ht...

Re: Interesting article on diamonds

40+ years ago worked in a large job shop plant that made Aluminum Oxide parts. 92%, 96%, 98%, and 99.5% purity compositions. All hard (fired part) grinding was done with diamond wheels, metal bonded mostly, using water based coolant. Green machining was primarily done with carbide single point tools...

Re: Your RR grading methods??

On weed control.... Roundup now has a 365 version claiming to control weeds for a year, pre-emergent built in. I am old so not too worried about contracting cancer from new exposures but wear gloves and use a really coarse spray/solid stream. Blackberries are prevalent in Northern California where I...

Re: Is MSC Totally Useless?

Sigh: Don't buy enough there to get the good prices. It's all a matter of what the traffic will bare. If you can sell stuff for 5X and 8X your cost you'll likely be very profitable at the end of the year as long as you don't price your self out of business. For myself in business and personal needs ...

Re: Scale weight

Just to make the discussion a bit more obtuse. Coefficient of friction is "constant" for a given materials pairing. In the case of railroads we are dealing with concentrated loads and things aren't so "constant". A round wheel on a rail starts out a a point load and progresses to...

When that rotor spins thee will be a lot of centripetal force trying to throw those magnets. Just saying.

Excellent solution, can see myself making a couple of these. May use a similar technique on my jeep can too.
