Re: Heat treat temperature calibration
PID temperature controllers with digital readout are quite cheap as are the thermocouples to go with them. Check the bay.

Re: Bearing race nomenclature
I can't remember the name of the company that made unground thrust bearings. The races had V grooves resulting in 4 point contact.

Re: I bought an adjustable 3 Jaw chuck
I have a 6.5" Yuasa with 3 adjusting screws. Getting work dialed in with 3 screws can be very frustrating.

Re: Effects of Hardening/Tempering

There are tap drivers and reamer drivers that ill work just as well. I have a local source. PM me if you want me ...

Re: Turning a soft materiel
I worked in a small non union shop. The CNC lathe operator was a former UAW member. At the end of a job he would strip all the tools from the lathe. On one rush job we were running the lathe 3 shifts. During my shift we I kept editing the speeds and feeds and got a 4 minute run time down to 2 minute...

Set the sine bar on the tilt table upside down (rolls facing up). Use a height gauge to measure the vertical distance between the rolls.
