"out of necessity" for drugs and/or lazyness

We must have a different definition for necessity.

Re: Q Who makes High rpm brushes for pencil grinders ?

Btw, dental turbine mini pencil die grinders operate at 400k, so where are they getting these brushes from if they are not made by anyone? That would be a good place to inquire - dental equipment supply house. As you said someone has suggested you slow the speed down, sounds like a good bit of advi...

Perfecto Hand Operated Shaper

This item came up on Craigslist recently and I thought it a neat piece of machinery, something I hadn't seen before. Perhaps it will be of interest to some of you here. It has a 5" stroke. I think with the addition of a small rotary it could be useful for scribing divisions on knobs or dials in...

Re: Best Way to Shine up Band Saw Table?

Phosphoric acid is great, I use it a lot. I buy it as "Concrete Etch" at Home Depot. Respectively, are you sure it's phosphoric acid for concrete etching? I know muriatic acid (another name for hydrocloric acid (HCL)) is used for etching concrete, wasn't aware phosphoric would work for th...

Re: Antique tractor radiator

Too bad the end customer elected not to spend extra for the embossed lettering on the front of the top tank. To me that was a cool feature. I agree the letter embossing would have added greatly. Also, IMHO, reproducing the tank in brass could have added a bit of class. It's a fine job you did Metal...

Re: How much $$ for an atlas 12x36 and a shaper?

I would think a thousand for the lathe and a little more for a good Atlas shaper w/guards and vice. I don't have any recent comparisons for the lathe price but I have seen 3 Atlas shapers sell at auction in the past 3 years, $300., $1,100 and $1,500. The $300. shaper was as good or better than the o...

Re: Help with a rectifier

Give it try only be sure you have the DC polarity correct in the circuit. The 1,000 volt rating is probably reference to the piv, peak inverse voltage they will be fine on the 12 volts as long as you size for the correct amperage. The full bridge rectifier will be a smoother DC and greatly reduce ra...
