Re: Anyone recognize this little mill?
Reminds me of pictures of Nichols mill. But, just a guess.

Re: I bought an adjustable 3 Jaw chuck
Allen., I also just purchased a 3 jaw Rohm with the adjustable jaws. It’s a very nice chuck with precision fitting jaws. Anyway I totally agree with you that it’s a bit of a learning process to adjust it. That said , I like it. FWIW, soft jaws are also worthwhile. Anyway, tooling is a never ending o...

Re: Rotary shaft seal with concentric tolerance?
Maybe a very thin Delrin seal. Probably wouldn’t last more than a couple of years but it may be a simple solution. I guess it all depends on the amount of work to remove that assembly.

Re: Show us your milling machine!
Those K&T ‘s are awesome. When I was looking for my first mill... there was K & T locally which was almost being given away . I forget the price... but it looked like a landlord just wanted it out of his building. Once I looked up it weight...I passed. Just too much for me. But if I was 30 y...

Re: Can't Get Hole Drilled Through Sandblast Cabinet
I’d try a lockout punch...type used by electricians to make clean holes in electrical boxes. But you still need to drill a pilot hole. I didn’t see the size hole you’re trying to drill. If you still want to try the uni-bit step drill, I find they do a very poor job starting holes. So drill a 1/8” pi...

Re: Millrite Clamping kit T nut help.
Had the same problem. Use a sanding belt and fit the Bridgeport sized 1/2” studded nuts to the table. Most nuts are hardened. Don’t try to mill them.

The internet does not last forever. Many said....once it’s on the net, it never goes away. Between Yahoo Groups and photoshop.... it’s now evident that the net is fragile. Tons of great forum discussions evaporated when geocities went bust. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

Re: 3 jaw chuck
Just another possibility is that if the jaw backing plate was originally off another screw on spindle from different lathe, then it’s possible you May need to recut the backing plate. When I upgraded to a 9a from 9c, I wanted to use a few of the 9c chucks on my 9a. They were all out around 3 thousan...

My problem is similar....incredible condensing humidity in New Orleans. Basically tropical weather. I have found Lanolin works best. You can buy Fluid Film which is Lanolin based. Or...do what I did. Go on Ebay and find pound of raw Lanolin. And then heat it up and mix with mineral spirits and oil. ...

I like your set up and am actually considering something similar to that but with a motor. That said...I have already added two gas charged struts which made a big difference in counterbalancing the weight on the upstroke.

Re: Let us discuss
No doubt CNC is very cool and maybe one day I will get the time to play with some sort of mini mill conversion with a couple of steppers and such. But that's way far away at this point. FWIW... Will the engine work ? I have no clue however I noticed it had no coolant jackets.... No water jackets for...
