Keith, I have a sister to this engine. Any idea how many were built? How many are still around? I'd love to add another to my stable of iron horses.

Re: Turntable Design and Build
Glenn,
Love the idea of the slotted end on the wheel bearing to allow it to rise and fall, brilliant! I will send you some pics of the underside of the turntable. Perhaps if you pm me your personal email I will be able to not clutter up the forum with unrelated pics.

Re: Reaming vs. Drilling Holes In Tube Sheets
Other than conductivity and ease of rolling, what are the advantages of copper tubes? I will be re-tubing my 15" gauge engine (soon to be an 18" gauge) It is currently tubed with 19, one inch, steel tubes. Should I look at changing over to copper? Is there a difference in expansion of the ...

Try the folks at Grove rings up in Milwaukee. You may have a minimum order, etc. but they are very capable and helpful.

Re: Turntable Design and Build
0067.jpg This is the gear case and drive motor which sits on the center pivot foundation. It is connected to the turntable structure by what I believe is called a, "torroidal" collar (probably misspelled) which is basically a flexible disk fastened to both the drive shaft and the undersid...

Re: Turntable Design and Build
0070.JPG Glenn, This is what sits in the turntable pit. A 40' long southern pacific railroad bridge. The center pivot is about 6' in diameter and the gear case and drive unit are affixed to that about 7' below the bottom of the bridge. The entire structure is below ground because the generous folks...

Re: Turntable Design and Build
Hey Glenn, If it weren't for the file size, 4.8 MB, I would post some photos I shot last summer of the remains of the turntable on Otto Mears Silverton Railroad which headed North out of Silverton. It was unique in that it had a turntable in the middle of the main line to get around the fact that th...

Re: Turntable design
I have not built the turntable for my 18' gauge yet, however, I did have a hand in designing the full size turntable we use at McKinney Ave. Transit in Dallas to turn some of our streetcars which are single ended. You must have a center pivot. In a turntable, most of the weight is taken by the cente...

Anthony, those are gorgeous! They reflect a lot of work and detail. I have an 18" gauge locomotive, about 4" to 5" scale, anything in the works for this size?

Re: Show your Park Gauge train
Keith, I defer to you. I did not have the copy of the court docs in front of me but I do have them somewhere. It is as you say. This appears to be a later engine than Cinder Belle as it has some features not found on mine. I refer to the rivets on the fire box. Like Cinder Belle, this one seems to h...
