Re: old photos

Old photos. Wow..., I gotta' get into the garage and back to work on my 0-4-0T but here are a few old photos from the Golden Gate Live Steamers. This set will be from the elevated track at Redwood Regional Park. Golden Spike for the elevated track was in 1950 and late 1962 for the ground track. This...

Slight tweak. I checked Youtube and didn't find anything but Facebook had what you're talking about.

Re: Little Engines Closed

Little Engines 0-4-0T "Harley," a fairly recent build of 2015, wishes Little Engines well. Harley had a tough start but is running pretty well now. His latest updates are a stainless steel saddle tank and a steam powered water pump.

Re: C&S No. 10 Returns to the Rails

Wonderful restoration of a very handsome train Anthony! The detail is simply fabulous! I loved the photography too, can I ask what sort of camera you used for the interior shots?

The website is still active: https://miraclerailroadproducts.com . Their 'Contact Info' address has changed from Georgia to Oklahoma while their eMail domain has changed from att.net to WeddleSigns.com . Give them a try! While my painting leaves something to be desired, her/their stencils worked gre...

Propane: Low Pressure Type 2?

For too long I've been merrily steaming along only to be suddenly shutdown by a wimpy yellow propane flame in the firebox. I thought this had been due to propane changing from a liquid to a vapor and the associated pressure drop due to cooling. Please see the first photo before considering flaming m...

Re: 2-6-6-6 Allegheny Boiler Questions

As stated above, Andy Clerici completed an Allegheny back in the early 1980s. According to his write-up, he used 35 @ 1" OD, 27/32" ID by 52" long. I was going to upload the 3.5MB "low resolution" version of the write-up but it was apparently too large (Chesapeake and Ohio H...

Re: Silver soldering torches

Forgive me but without hijacking this thread and on the same general subject -- pickling. One of my mentors, Roy of Golden Gate Live Steamers, taught me to use battery acid. Then, God rest his soul, he passed away. I purchased a small container of battery acid from an auto parts store. I've only use...

Re: Silver soldering torches

Youtube hobby machinist Blondihacks (Quinn Dunki) is starting with the boiler of a 3-1/2" gauge 0-4-0 switcher. I am really enjoying it and will be happy when it passes its boiler test. She talks about the silver soldering equipment she's using in Part 1 starting at 14:55. See: https://www.yout...
