Re: LE 0-4-0 Valve Question

Thanks for the info. I am starting to think the valve liners may have been built incorrectly. I have air coming through the exhaust all of the time no matter where the valve sits inside the cylinder. Looks like I may have to remove o e of the valve liners to see what's up (from what I can see extern...

LE 0-4-0 Valve Question

I am completing the build of a LE 0-4-0 and have a question regarding setting of the valves. I do not have the drawings so I am a little blind, but how to you initially set the valves? Guess I am asking is how do you know where the valve should be set before moving onto the timing? I have inspection...

Re: Crosshead Guide Material

Would this material need to be hardened or is it hard enough in the annealed state (I assume that is how it is sold).

Crosshead Guide Material

Hi,

I have to build 4 crosshead guides for me LE 0-4-0. They are 3/8 x 1/2 and I wondering if I could use key stock material for the guides. The material has fairly tight tolerances so I would think it would work.

Comments? Other ideas?

Thanks

LE Rotary Throttle Build

Hi,

I am going to attempt to build a LE rotary throttle from their castings kit. Has anyone built one of these that could give me pointers and photos of the build or completed item?

Thanks

Re: Silver Soldering Leaf Springs

Thanks for all the replies. As mentioned, I am not concerned about losing the "spring" in the leaf since it is backed up by 2 others the same length. My concern was the silver content of the solder. I think I used 5% and wasn't sure that was enough to give a good solid joint.

Silver Soldering Leaf Springs

Have a quick question.

I need to solder bolsters to the ends of my leaf springs for my LE 0-4-0. What silver content do I need to use to make sure these will stay put and not break off in use?

Thanks

Plumbing question

Hi, I am moving onto plumbing up my LE 0-4-0 and have run into a problem. The bushings on the boiler appear to be a 1/4" NPT fitting and not a MTP thread. Is there anything out there to adapt a check valve to that boiler bushing? I will also have the same issue with a check valve for oil going ...

Re: Plumbing a lubricator

I really do not know. I was thinking the hydro since this is a smaller engine but that is just a guess.

Plumbing a lubricator

Hi,

We are building a LE 0-4-0 and have a question regarding the use/installation of a lubricator. We do not see anything in the prints we have regarding the use or plumbing so we are at a bit of a loss as to what to should use and how it is plumbed.

Thanks
