Re: How to switch to mill function on 3-1 Grizzly G4015Z
Yes, single motor with selector gearing. I was fiddling with it some more and found that something was binding up preventing the selector sleeve from being able to seat into position for mill operation. It seemed to have something to do with the head not being in alignment. When I moved the head sli...

Re: How to switch to mill function on 3-1 Grizzly G4015Z
I was hoping to have a suggestion by now. These 3-1 machines are mostly pretty similar, right? I'd dig into the machine to find out how the linkages work, but I don't see a way to remove the housings. There must be a way....

How to switch to mill function on 3-1 Grizzly G4015Z
Hello all. It's been a while since I switched from lathe to mill on my Grizzly G4015Z, but I have tested it before and it worked fine. I tried again last night but could not get the spindle to turn. I looked in the manual for direction, but only saw what I already knew, which was to set the black hu...

Re: endmill too high when in collet
Thanks Torch. I don't have an immediate need; I'm just trying to get a working setup for when I have one. Unfortunately, it's looking like I will just be able to use a riser block.
The 4" vise is an Accu Lock. In hindsight, I should have ordered the one with the swivel base.

Re: endmill too high when in collet
I'd like to get a rotary & tilt/vertical table, but it would have to mount to my table, which is only 5-7/8 wide x 7-3/4" long looking from the front of the machine. It has two slots across the width and one across the length. It looks to me that a 4" size is my only option to mount on...

Re: endmill too high when in collet
It looks like a good solution, with the exception that I've not yet found one with a 3/8-16 drawbar thread. It was easy to find collets with it, but so far have only found M12 threads.

Re: endmill too high when in collet
Russ, I get PAGE NOT FOUND with that link.
Searching for "MT3 to ER32:", I do get results. Certainly looks like it would solve my problem.

endmill too high when in collet
I have a 5/16 endmill in an MT3 collet right now. With a drill chuck holding the bit, it goes down much further than in the collet. At it's lowest point now, the bit is still at least 1.5" above the top of my 4" vise. How do you deal with this predicament? (sorry, but my actual picture is ...

Re: How to lock in swiveling mill head
OK, it does prevent rotation also. I'm not sure what I did last night that it did not.
Thanks for the link, Jon. I'll be looking into that.

Re: How to lock in swiveling mill head
Yes, I've looked through the manual. Fig.31 is the screw for locking in elevation, not rotation of the head.
