If you do purchase the plans from Mr. Maynard, purchase the book also. There were mistakes on the plans that were corrected in Live Steam a few issues later. I need to mix up a couple hundred pounds of green sand for making iron castings. From what I understand, this is usually about 94% fine silica sand, 5% bentonite, and about 1% charcoal or coal dust, not counting the water. Can anyone recommend a source of bentonite? I think some types of cat litter...
