Re: How to clamp work....?

TechTony really needs to buy or borrow a book on basic machining practices. Should be able to find something in your local library before you hurt yourself or damage your machine.

Find someody on Vintage Machinery dot org with the same machine and contact them. A fellow owner who has restored and uses theirs is probably your best bet.

Re: Want a better machine for drilling large holes

If your are making (drilling) multiple parts, you really want to be setting the work in a purpose designed fixture that bolts right to the table not a vise. A stout drillpress like the one shown by liveabord would be a better choice than a mill drill.

Re: New digital caliper wanted

Hello reggie-obe, In your last post you forgot Temperature and humidity in measuring anything. Re: Lookie What I Get to Use!!!

A yearly membership contract works out to about $4 a day. What specific machines or classes made you decide to join? Oh, I see instructional classes are extra..... No mention about the instructors or their qualifications.

Family has been out of the wholesale fastener business for many years, but cad plating can still be had. Overkill for the OP's application.

Re: New digital caliper wanted

Checked over gauge pins....calibrated when? Jaws straight and ground parallel to what tolerance? Do they open and close as smoothly at the Mitutoyo? Doubt it. I don't need three cheap 6" calipers, only one good one that is accurate and a joy to use. Same logic behind the purchase of any quality too...

Re: Looking for a specific socket head cap screw...

Either source the bolts with a Yellow Zinc plating or send the existing fasteners out to be stripped and Cadmium plated. Either will hold up to water better than anything that has been suggested other than a good grade of stainless which comes with its own problems. Functionality and longevity shoul...

Re: New digital caliper wanted

I'd rather own one used Mitutoyo than three new Horrible Freight calipers that eat up batteries even when turned off.
