Re: Cagney for Sale
Glenn I have the following papers from Mrs Stutz: two papers from Colorado Metallurgical Service analyzing a coupon for steel content, and a summary ultrasonic thickness test report from Intermountain Testing Company indicating that the sheets above the mud ring measured .150 to .179 thick. Paperwor...

Re: Cagney for Sale
Didn’t meet reserve at $37,000. “RKRailroad” was apparent high bidder. Funny, that is only a few grand more than my agreement with the widow Stutz in Feb. 2020 to purchase, with more track and switches than offered. I had to pass based on COVID hitting in March, and the inability to find reasonable ...

Re: Allen Models Consolidation - New Tender Questions
Sam,
Locoparts made at least three slopebacks for RRS B&O 0-4-0s. Get hold of Jeff and see if he still has the tooling to produce. These did have sharp corners, not radiused.

Re: Allen Models Consolidation - New Tender Questions
You can now buy the tender cistern from Allen Models; they have 30” and 36” models, vintage flared and straight tops. During my brief turn as a minority owner of Allen Models, I photographed as many Allens as I could at a Train Mountain tri-ennial. I noticed that three-quarter of the locos did not h...

Re: Reshaping Allen Models Side Rods?
Actually Dave, those rods are prototypical because the Allen Mogul was based upon a specific Mogul from the Wabash RR, a very popular locomotive in O-gauge (photo) in the late 1950s. Despite that, I never cared for the fish-bellied rods either so I think if you maintain the 7/8" width they'll not o...

***SOLD***Klamath 7-1/2” Gauge Hudson Project
A real project for experienced machinists – live steamers, as the drawings had never been redlined and completed by Klamath. Engine wheels, frames, bearings are completed. Spring rigging to do. No valve gear. Commonwealth tender trucks started, appear to be Southern pattern, not NYC. Massive one pie...

Curly Lawrence’s version of LNER V-2 2-6-2 “Green Arrow” from English Mechanics in 1936, 2-1/2” gauge. Take it for what it’s worth, it’s LBSC!

Tristan
It’s an American Hoist and Derrick model. I have sent a set of Al Armitage drawings and a link to the AH&D 1914 catalog to Charlie, which he is using as reference. Prototype for Harris came from San Francisco Maritime Museum.

Re: The William Harris Steam Donkey Engine in 2.5 inch Scale
Charlie It seems from the drawings that Bill Harris’s original gears were oversize. In 3 inch scale, scale gears would be a little less than 7 1/2” PD. In 2 1/2 inch scale, scale gears would be 6 1/8” PD. I think there’s room for modification here Tristan, the problem isn’t getting the gear cutters,...
