Re: Mobilmet 766, replace periodically or just top up?

Thanks guys.
Harold always good to hear from you sir!
Cost - this is why I'm posting, the cost to replace it all would be excessive, I think I'm going to go with the - "If it ain't boke, don't fixed it" theory.

Mobilmet 766, replace periodically or just top up?

We have a machine that runs Mobilmet 766 cutting oil. Up until now we have just topped this machine up with cutting oil as necessary, as it left on parts. It is never run to the point it smokes or anything. It was mentioned to me that this cutting oil should be completely replaced on a regular basis...

Thanks mate! that's exactly what I was looking for. Using the key work "Food Trade Coat" I'm seeing lots of different examples.
Cheers!

Any UK machinists here, I'm looking for help finding a supplier?

About 15 years ago, when our business was based in Australia, we acquired several machinists dust coats, I think they were new Government surplus. They're made out of the normal materials, and have press studs down the front. The thing that makes them unique is that all the pockets are on the inside...

Re: Anyone heard of DD17 nickel chromium molybdenum steel?

It sounds a great deal like 4340, but without knowing the chemistry, that may not be true. The DD designation makes me wonder if, maybe, this is a Department of Defense spec? How you been, AAA! It's been a long time. Harold G'day mate. Long time indeed! Unfortunately, haven't had much time for foru...

Suggestions on parts washer solvents

Looking for the best solvent to run in a parts washer. Using a Graymills PL36 parts washer. Currently using PSC1000 from tractor supply. It works great, but is pretty well Naphtha. This is a known cancer causer according to the MSDS for Naphtha, and I'm looking for something a little safe as our bab...

Source for 1/8 BSP elbow cup oilers

Looking for a source for 1/8-BSP elbow cup oilers. I only need one. Like this: GITS Problem is they won't sell to me direct, distributor won't special order for 1 item. Looking for someone who has them on the shelf ready to roll, preferably with online ordering. The Nipple Shop in the UK has them, b...

Re: Coolant for cold cut saw

Hi Harold, yes sir. Don't get much time to frequent the forums these days, pretty much either sleeping or working! I was lucky that the coolant that was in there was a synthetic one. It didn't smell one bit. Since I do a lot of threading I've been running Mobil Omega or Mobil 766 on my lathes. This ...

Coolant for cold cut saw

Just cleaned out the sump on our cold saw and was going to refill it.
Any reason I can't run something like Mobil Omega or 766?

As it's used infrequently, the water soluble oil tends to cause the chips sitting in the sump to rust.

Moving lathe to basement

Anyone got a link to the page with pics of the guy in the Portland area who used Mogan's to move a lathe into his basement down some stairs? I think it was a Monach 10EE or Rivett? Wanting to show someone what can be done.
Searched for ages and couldn't find it.

thanks
