Booster transformer 3 PH. hook up

I have a pair (2) single phase Booster Auto-Transformers that came with my Horz Boring Mill. I removed them since it had been in a shop that only had 208v 3 phase and the mill was a 240v 3 phase machine. I had 240v 3 phase in my shop, so I didn't need them. Now, I want to use them with another machi...

Desi-Pak reactivation time?

Since I haven't been able to keep heat in my shop for two winters (Pac. NW high humidity) I think it is time to dry out my 40 some 16oz Desi-Paks that have been protecting my tools in their cabinets. I keep a dehumidifier going for the general shop area so these cabinet also gain some benefit from t...

Re: Buffalo Universal Iron Worker "Mine At Last!"

I have been curious about the age of this machine. I was able to identify the model from the pictures of the different models in the Buffalo literature available. I just found the label plate today, under the work light base. The only info that was stamped in but readable after I scrapped through th...

Re: Buffalo Universal Iron Worker "Mine At Last!"

UpDate: I finished my preliminary service, inspection and rewiring the Buffalo for 220v 3 phase. And received my order of std size punches and dies from Cleveland Punch. Came with a nice storage box and pint can of punch lub. However, when I went to install the a punch and die set I discovered that ...

Re: 3 Phase Shop Power - To Make or Buy??

My present consumption with both my shop and home on the same meter satisfies their min. requirements, since I heat a my home with a head pump or electric heat when it really get too cold. Tig foot control; Miller or USAWELD

I purchased a Miller Sycrowave 250 at auction from a trade school. Very good condition and appears lightly used. However, it didn't come with a tig torch or foot control. I see plenty of touches on ebay but the Miller Rfsc-14HD is pretty pricey. I did finally find another from USAWELD for about $100...

Re: Old Timer, Back to welding!

I had my right eye done in '92, this cataract was dead center in my field of vision and it was a great relief at that time. two years later they had to clear out some 'trash' stuff with a laser and some of that had come back in recent years, so I had the laser treatment done again this week. Within ...

Re: Tig or Mig cast aluminum??

PraxAir has it in stock at their Altoona ? warehouse in 10 lb quantities. That is available with a few days shipping, but I'm not ready to commit to that much without some one to share the purchase with. AirGas sells welding electrode in small quantities to local weld school students and small shops...

Re: Tig or Mig cast aluminum??

I just checked with AirGas and PraxAir and neither had heard of it. AirGas is looking into it but PraxAir found it in their system, from MaxAll and it is $7/lb with smallest quantity of 10 lb. He read off the product description for me and it sounds good but I really need to find someone to split a ...

Re: Tig or Mig cast aluminum??

Thanks, I would appreciate it if you let me know how this new rod works out because I haven't invested in any yet. Don't want to stock up on the various old school rod, if there is a new "wiz-bang" multi-use rod out there. My local weld supplier is Air Gas but my favorite for customer serv...
