Power Model Supply 11” pump drawings wanted

Hi I am looking for a set of drawings for the Power Model Supply PWA-150 Westinghouse type 11” water pump in 1-1/2” scale. I have found the air pump drawings so all I need is the drawing for the water cylinder. This pump is the big brother of the C.A. Street & Sons 9-1/2” 1-1/2” scale pumps. Thanks ...

Re: C84400 Ingot want to buy

You can purchase ingots from Lancaster Foundry Supply. I purchased C84400 to cast accessories with. It has a 90% machinable rating. Then I ordered some C83600 to cast boiler fittings from. It has a 84% machinable rating and is what it used on full size valves up to 150 PSI steam. I also ordered some...

Re: C84400 Ingot want to buy

I have purchased my ingots from this company since the 1970's: http://www.hkramer.com/contact-us.html It's about a 50 mile drive, and they load the stuff up, and I pay them cash. I use mostly C99700 C99700 has a Machinability Rating of 80 compared to 90 for C84400 Leaded Semi-red Brass and 100 C360...

Re: C84400 Ingot want to buy

I sent out three or four RFQ's for red brass to suppliers about a month ago and I got one response back. For some reason I cant find the email but they wanted a minimum order of 100 pounds which I did not think was unreasonable however I only need a small quantity. I think it was Belmont Metals but...

Air Pump D Valves

Hi All

I am working on 2 air pumps. The supplier specifies Stainless Steel for the D valves. I am under the understanding that Stainless Steel is a poor bearing material. The cylinder is Silicon Bronze. I was thinking of using Aluminum Bronze for the the valve because I have it.

Thanks

Re: Tuscon Red Paint

I started using PPG ALK-200. I sent a color chip of Chicago North Western #3 freight car reddish brown from Tru-Color Paint. It came back as a standard color “ Dark Russet”

I think it looks great.

Re: Refrigerator car question

Salt was added to the ice to make it colder. The black might be a tar based product to help keep things from rusting away.

You can use lbcs's Baker design for a 3/4 loco and double it. It is well documented and easy to follow. The standard ratio of input to valve travel is very standard for baker.
Standard Baker valve gear has a ratio of 4 to 1.
