Re: Home machine shop - noise?

Thanks for the responses, guys. Personally, I'm in a 20'x12' single garage in the back corner of our lot (1/5 acre)... it is about as far from any other building (neighbors included) as possible... it is not insulated or lined (that is planned), but the noise hasn't been an issue due to the distance...

Home machine shop - noise?

The sounds of industry are not always quiet ones. Do you do anything to minimize the noise that emanates from your shop? Have you received complaints about the noise you do make? Does anyone have a mini shop in a spare bedroom of an apartment, or a townhouse garage? This is a question that just came...

Re: CNC Machines

I did my training in the late 70's early 80's (Royal Australian Navy)... Like other's here have stated, you start out with the most rudimentary of tools to do a given task... once you can do that, they move you up to the next level, until you just have to push the button and stand back. Started out ...

Bill, a Diesels and a Glow engine are very much different animals... A Diesel ignites the charge from compression heat alone, whereas a Glow engine has a wire coil that continues to "glow" from the heat of the previous cycle, and ignites the consecutive charge... Glow engines generally use...

I know I've got last years ply stacked up ready to go... even gave it a coat of varnish...

I put an extra window in a poorly lit back room a month or so back, and cutting a sheet of ply for that happend before it got painted :-)

Re: Stop the madness last response.

This has indeed been a great thread (haha)... I've worked in industries from military aviation to domestic construction, and have seen many varied "interpretations" of the rules that apply (some with less than stellar results)... There is a lot to be said for the efficiency of the "sy...

Re: Boiler Flu Spacing diagonal or in line?

If all (or most all) the heat comes from the firebox, then we should be able to run the combustion products straight up and out without having to put in all them flues. Lots less possibility of developing a leaky flue that way. Jesse Not to mention the huge savings in production cost of a loco, as ...

Re: Cam file viewer

I think you guys are missing something (or I've read the question wrong)...

The subject says CAM file viewer... your suggestions seem to relate to CAD files...

A basic CAM file editor/viewer that I'm aware of is called "Discriminator"...
