Re: Is tool gloat considered bad form?
Totally agree with Refinery Mike, tool gloats are awesome, love reading the stories and shows newbies that instead of spending all your hard earned money on expensive new tools that there are plenty of old tools that will still get the job done.

Re: Looking at a new Grizzly Mill
Its a no brainer , I'd go with the G0755 Heavy-Duty Mill/Drill . Power feed+ $700 cheaper =sweet. And its not exactly a small mill home wise.

Re: power feed problems mill drill
Great pics Dave, I made a powerfeed for my mill and I see the circuit board is similar to the one I bought, but your mechanics for the feed are quite different. But then again I used a screwgun motor and just a coupling for mine.

Sounds like its skipping a teeth. I would pull it back off and see if maybe you need to shim or whatever ya have to do to make sure you have a good joining of the gears.

Re: Grizzly G0750G or G4003G?
If I had the money either one would be sitting in my shop right now, love all the features they have. The 750g I think the only difference is the way the gears are encased in the motor for a quieter operation. But that being said and for that much money, you could buy a used one packed with tooling ...

Re: hf mill?
I ditto what others have said, get a clamp set, its handy for everything, I use it on my drill press too. And like Harold said, find someone who is a machinist or do like I did and went and worked at a tool and die shop for a couple of years and get paid to learn. A layout set like this from Grizzly...

Re: my manual homemade mill upgrade
actually with the added quill this reinforcement is probably much needed. I would love to run screws in from the slide into the side plates but its a little iffy and I don't want to mess the slide up. Just waiting on the new controller board to show up probably at the end of this next week. Thanx fo...

Re: my manual homemade mill upgrade
The powerfeed is almost finished, I went ahead and ordered another speed controller as the one I have now is very jumpy on its slowest speed and I didn't like that. powerfeed box finish 003.jpg I also couldn't help notice that when I was drilling some holes the whole head was moving side to side. So...

Re: Never seen this mill before
Thanx Cary, you nailed it as an Emco product. DM95 if I had the money and the time to go pick it up I would. Fine German engineering for $750 blows a r8 mini mill from China away!! Besides once you buy a mt2 collet set your pretty much have all the tooling ya need. Maybe add a mt2 boring bar set and...
