Re: US POST OFFICE

I have had lots of cast iron antique coffee grinders shipped via USPS Priority Mail WITH insurance. I offer to pay extra for double boxing. P.O. has given me the option of submitting a repair estimate or cost of replacing broken part on items that were damaged in shipment. Postal service is far from...

Re: Where can I buy wood handles for push brooms .

Diyer, I had the same problem, finding handles for antique coffee grinders. Finally bought a small wood lathe and made my own. Am using thinwall brass tubing for the ferrules. Have since learned that ferrules are available through some woodworking supply. Am told that woodturning on metal lathe gums...

Jim,
Enjoyed your shop pix. Looks organized and easy to "sweep up" after projects.

Re: Cheap Leveling Feet

Plow bolts with jam nuts work nicely too. They actually look like a foot, when in place.

Re: More Drill and Bit Grinding

Tim, I finally found an affordable Darex. A good option is to buy a General Tool drill fixture. They also were marketed by Craftsman and others. Yard sale for a buck or 2, ebay 10.00 or so. Looks a whole lot like the Lisle drill sharpener in Enco. Jan/Feb 03 HSM magazine has an article about modifyi...

6.5 earthquake near Paso Robles

Was playing 8 ball about a mile from home. The shock bounced me into a wall. Sprinklers came on. Got the hell out of there and home to check on shop, several thousand lbs of antique coffee grinders and my sweetheart. ( Listed alphabetically) No real damage. Parrot hanging upside down in cage going o...

Re: Di Acro 24" Brake-What's it worth

Marty posted a pix of a Pexto PX24 brake last year, a friend of his was offering it for 450. Once I learned that the man attends Westec show yearly I offered full asking price if he would hand carry to show. The brake was as advertised. Roper Whitney offers the same brake for 4200. I am a happy man....

Re: Smoker electric or propane

I have worn out two "steam smokers", I think that is the type sold in Wallmart and big box stores. Also made and wore out a large steam unit from food grade 55 gal drum. Steam smoker cooks with steam generated by a pan of water located between the heat source and meat, and whatever heat ri...
