Re: CCMT recycle face mills

I doubt I have a mill, that could utilize a 3” mill to it maximum, I have a 3”, a couple of 2-1/2” and the one I use is a 2”, which seems to fit the 1-1/2 hp mill the best.

I think you'd be better served by making a new holder. The pocket you create isn't going to have much support for the insert unless you set it back a bit. But then the hole isn't going to line up. I thought about that, but where it will lose support is near the opposite tip. The sides to the left a...

Re: CCMT recycle face mills

I bought the 2 lathe tools, that use the normally unused edges on CCMT inserts, SCBCR and SCKCR (Tormach #35647 and #35644, from LMS). Because I hated to throw half sharp inserts, I have not seen a face mill that uses CCMT inserts.

Re: Milling vise choice

I have a Jet JVM 836, similar in size to the Millrite, with an 8 x 36 table, I have both a 4” and a 6” vise, the 6” is the primary vise.

Re: Making a milling machine riser

The 3 riser blocks I bought, were mounted exactly as you show. You used the original spider to hold the riser block to the mill and the new spider to hold the ram assembly to the riser block.

Re: Wanted 5C Collets

I bought out a machinery supply store, I have odd sizes, but none small enough. Too bad you do not need R8, I have 6 lyndex 1/16” collets.

Re: Rockwell 21-800 Mill Vise Made by Palmgren

I have a Rockwell #21-100 vertical milling machine, that I use about 60% of the time, over the other milling machines, I bought a Shars 4” upper grade import milling vise, and have had excellent results. I have multiple Palmgren drill press vises, that are good quality, but the Palmgren milling vise...

Re: Rockwell Vertical Mill 21-100

My 21-100, has no serial number tag, the drive pins are there, but no tag. Mine came out of a vocational high school, where it go almost no use, after 25-30 years it was sold to a ASME boiler repair shop, when it remained wrapped in shrink-wrap for another 10-15 yrs, when I bought it before they pla...

I'd kill, to have your space, compared to mine you could hold a barn dance. I have another lathe coming, but absolutely no place to put it, it's going to take some serious space management.
