FTGMX Lathe Repair/Re-paint project
Ok, a few weeks ago I decided I was going to repaint my old Craftsman/Atlas lathe. Simple enough :-/ well, after a bit of repair it was. So here goes with a little photo journal of the project. Here is the lathe shortly after I purchased it. The motor was running in the reverse direction, and I didn...

Re: Craftsman 1017383 12" lathe quickchange gearbox?
I am not sure but it looks to me like your lathe is the 6" swing Craftsman made by Atlas. If so, that gearbox is way too big as it is for a 10" or 12" Atlas. If yours is a 10" or 12" then it would probably be fairly easy. I don't think there is a gearbox easily adaptable th...

Re: Craftsman 1017383 12" lathe quickchange gearbox?
I think the QC box will fit the bed, but it may take some other pieces too...Be nice if you could get the leadscrew...the quick-change screw is different on the end, there's a slip-clutch on the gearbox. It could be modified, of course, but it would take another lathe if yours is torn down...think ...

boring bar insert question....
OK, so I bought a used 3/8th boring bar. it was from, I think, SteveM, not really sure anymore. Anyway, the end of this the bar just clamps down on the insert. There is no need for a hole in the middle of the insert. All the inserts I see in MSC have holes in the middle. The opening at the end of th...

Very nice shelf. I have the same clutter issue in my shop. I think I am going out to do a control cleanup right now.

DRO on Rong Fu Mill??
Does anyone have any pictures of a DRO, or even the digital scales installed on the Rong Fu type, Enco Mills? I was just curious how they mount. I.E. how much I have to make to get them to work. Thanks
