Re: Silver Soldering O/A tip size

#3 or smaller tip is a good place to start, but don't go crazy since you can overheat very quickly.

Re: The Latest Lineup at Ridge Boiler

I asked the question for the obvious reasons...to see what hornet's nest could be stirred up and what REALLY is needed to run a solid, simple, low maintenance steamer

Re: Places or people to visit in Germany in February

If you can manage the distance, the museum in Sinsheim is well worth the trip.

https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/

Is isn't strictly steam, but there is a lot of steam there - and it is INDOORS, which can be important in February.

If you are any type of a gearhead, it is a no-brainer...

Re: The Latest Lineup at Ridge Boiler

cool...shame you don't have anything to do..

As a matter of personal interest (any maybe to others).

I see that none of these boiler have superheater flues.

As a "stick you thumb in the air guesstimate" - what % of the boilers you build have superheater flues...??

Re: Southern Valve Gear

I currently have a working animation using Fusion 360 that will allow me to manually change the cut-off then crank the drive wheel 'by hand' and observe the valve events.

it's kinda crude, but getting closer...

Re: Stephenson Slide Valves

I can supply a drawing of how it should be set. This does not alter settings at full gear.
