Re: John Bailie of Sacramento, California

RIP and condolences to his family and friends. I still refer to the Making Chips article in The Home Railway Journal (Summer 2009) that his work inspired. Mr. Bailie created a neat way to use PM Research castings. Much appreciated.

Thanks to Matt Mason for the magazine. I saved every copy.

Re: Suggestions on transporting 7.5" equipment

This thread reminded me of one of my favorite photos.

Not sure who this is, but the locomotive looks familiar! Is this Mr. Harpur, original designer of what became the Allen Mogul?

My great-aunt had a car like this, but not set up to haul Livesteam equipment.

Re: Suggestions on transporting 7.5" equipment

Each person needs to find the safety solutions that work best for them. I have been using safety ratchet straps crisscrossing the whole cargo area. My straps are connected to built-in anchor points provided by the vehicle manufacturer in the rear corners, looped thru locomotive chassis parts and the...

Re: Suggestions on transporting 7.5" equipment

Here are some pics of my set up to carry my Allen Mogul, tender and propane car/caboose in my 2019 Chevy Traverse. Tight squeeze but can be done. Tie down straps always added for safety after the loading is done.

Cheers!

Anyone in Madison Wisconsin?

Hi All,

One of my best friends from my military days is now a retired airline pilot living in Madison. He is into 3D printing now and wants to get into machining. Is asking me about lathe projects, etc.

Any one know of a club or kindly mentor for him near Madison Wisconsin?

Thanks!

Re: Pandemic Progress?

Great idea for a discussion thread, I would love to see what everyone has been working on. Like many of you, I decided to make the most of the reduced time out and focus on workshop projects. Got a good bit done, most significantly finished my Allen Mogul and did its first track test in November of ...
