Re: Can you test a Superscale economy injector on air?

Hi Chuck!
The steam cone on the top is a 10/32 thread.
I screwed in a bolt, but cone is really resisting!
I've sprayed it with some penetrating oil, but it is still holding tight.
What method do you use to free it up?

Re: Can you test a Superscale economy injector on air?

Thanks, Chuck, for the clarification. I just finished the vinegar soak with the unit assembled.... But then it's Monday..... ; - ) I'll try it again with the unit disassembled. And thanks for tip on removing the steam cone... I'll see if I can figure out the thread size. Thank you for the follow-up!...

Re: Can you test a Superscale economy injector on air?

Thanks, Anthony and Chuck, for the valuable info!
I'll wait until the next steam-up and try it again.
If it doesn't work, I'll go the substitution route....
Rules of thumb can be tricky, but would 20 min in vinegar typically be sufficient to clean up the injector?

Can you test a Superscale economy injector on air?

I'm having a problem with my Superscale economy injector on my Allen Mogul. It's worked great since the engine was originally finished in 2001. I've only done intermittent running during the summer since then. But this last 'fire up' after my boiler test has me wondering what may be wrong. Normally ...

Re: Need help with injector problem...

Thanks, guys, for some really useful info!
I'll starting checked out sources of a possible air leak.
I'd never have considered the possibility of the bonnet screw on the water valve being too loose...
I'll post what the final solution turns out to be...

Re: Need help with injector problem...

Thanks for the feedback guys, and I did say something wrong in my first post... I DO turn down the water, not the steam, when the water begins being injected. As far as the injector and cones go, I replaced the old injector with a new SuperScale Economy ejector and had the same problem. It's either ...

Need help with injector problem...

While steaming up for the Lake Shore Live Steamers (NE Ohio) public run, I discovered that my water injector was not working correctly. I normally turn on the water, turn on the steam, and then adjust the steam so the water is at trickle. Today it was all or nothing: either all water, or all steam. ...

Re: Generic questions on foam cutting...

Hi John!
Yes, lost foam it is.
But I don't do it with loose sand or a plaster coat.
I do regular foam into regular green sand.

Generic questions on foam cutting...

I use my home built CNC router to cut foam patterns for aluminum casting. I've got a workable system, but I 'd be interested in some further insights. I'm using a 1/16th carbide cutter with a max depth of 3/16 of an inch. Currently using 22,500 rpm with 20 inch/minute feed... What do you use? Also, ...
