Re: 1” 4-6-2 mystery eng

Just a thought after looking at the pipe shown in the open smoke box door and what appears to be a shielded passage down to the mystery tank. Check the pipes to it on the right side if they come from the axle pump then the tank could be a feed water heater. Drains or unfinished connections on the le...

Re: Smaller Scale Tracks in MI?

Continuing with the "not so nearby", also in Ontario there is the 3-1/2 and 4-3/4 elevated track at Komoka (London) and soon to be completed after a re-location is a 3-1/2 and 5" also elevated track in Lindsay. Regards, Mike

Re: Question on 3.5" Rob Roy drawings

Just found that I have the same Rob Roy book as you with the same typo. Checked in my L.B.S.C. book for two of Virginia's axles and they are both 3-9/32" main length with the 1/2" ends. Both designed for 3-1/2" gauge, 3/4" scale. Regards, Mike.

Hi James and All

The Omemee track was dismantled a month ago and is awaiting material for re-assembly in Lindsay, 3 1/2 and 5 inch gauges. Also due to dwindling rail activity the Bluewater track (3.5 & 4.75") was donated to the Komoka RR Museum where there is more activity.

Re: nathan-typle lubricators

I'm not sure just which Nathan Lubricator you are referring but Model Engineer Volume 167, issue number 3907 dated 18-31 October 1991 had an article on a working Detroit Hydrostatic Lubricator. The Lubricator was in 1.5" scale for a 5" gauge loco, it had a separate oil reservoir below the ...

Re: Has anyone ever built a railway gun in live steam?

For a couple more references I have several books on this subject one is "RAIL GUN" by John Batchelor/Ian Hogg that covers in pictures several U.S, British, French and German Rail mounted Guns. Also by Charles S. Small "California's Railway Guns", this documents California's coas...

Hi Steve'

In your middle picture, thats my Simplex behind Art's Caribou. You may be right on a stretch job but the last time I saw Caribou it was still an 0-8-0. Thats a long time ago.
