Not sure this any clarification, but I tried to indicate that the wire on the first line was for the marked ground point, so the s...

Re: Grizzly GO 516 info , opinions
Hello, would like info/opinions on this combo. can the carriage be used as power feed when milling ? I guess you know that this is basically an Seig C6 9.75x21 lathe with X2 mill head added. http://www.mini-lathe.com/C6_lathe/C6/c6.htm Since they have separate motors, there is little to preclude ru...

Re: rest
Hold on old bleu. I hope you know I'm just a garage type machinist and not really able to call myself that among many here. Fair enough, but I had not really thought about that bearing separator being hardened, much less using a hole saw in thick steel angle. It is just that it could work but be en...

Re: HF 5980 Spindle Specs?
Does anyone know the specs for the HF 5980 spindle? Need to build / buy chuck adaptor. Measurement seems to be M42 X 2 (nearly) or 1 3/4 - 12 (nearly). Both seem pretty unusual. Yes, mine measures the same. Does anyone know a source for faceplates that fit? I assume that you are/were looking for a ...

HF 5980 steady follower
Based on what I have read, steady rests have 3 arms and anchor to ways, while followers have 2 arms and anchor to saddles. I want to turn inside the ends of aluminum tubes around 6 inches long and 1.5 inch OD, using my tailstock-mounted boring bar. So far as I know, rests were not sold for the 5980....

Re: welcome
I see the separater part loosely conforms to the rest you envision. I don't think it is a good choice. I did stuff like that and it doesn't work except like emergency. sigh The surface at least of these are Very hard and knarley to drill through. Shoot, here I was worrying about how to cut 2-inch r...

I am grateful that you maintain such a fine website and appreciate that controlling subscriptions is necessary. For example, the porshe901 yahoo group was once useful for 911 owners of a certain vintage, but has been trashed. However, once a subscriber is vetted, being allowed to change their email ...

Introduction
I have owned a 3-in-1 for over 10 years, only using the lathe and mostly for fabricating and adapting parts for my track car. Now, I want to turn inside tubing, so need a steady rest, but they do not appear to be available for 3-in-1s. I intend to fabricate the rest from an extra HF 3979 bearing sep...
