Lou, I have a JD mower and their MC519 tow behind bagger. Not cheap, but I am happy with it. Have lots of leaves to pick up...LOTS of leaves. I vac 'em at least once a week for about two months. Supposed to hold 19 bushel.

Usually done with a wheel formed to the final shape of the part being made, or slotting hardened material.. Slow feed rate, high flow coolant and full depth in a single pass. Some "regular" surface grinders are capable of it, but more often machine made with that specific purpose in mind.

The saws with side teeth will work MUCH better, IMHO, for that width/depth ratio. Without the side teeth the tooth gullets tend to clog and break the cutter with any kind of depth of cut. I would also get a stagger tooth cutter if possible... much freer, smoother cutting. End milling slots 4 X Dia. ...
