This is a link to the U.K. boiler test code https://www.sfmes.co.uk/ydrRoot/committ ... olume1.pdf
It seems to work fairly well for us. Hope it is of interest.

Re: Is Train Mountain OK? Fire @ Collier St. Pk.
I just copied this from TM's website. Seems like it could have been a lot worse. FIRE INCIDENT "TWO FOUR TWO FIRE" Sept. 11, 2020, UPDATE Train Mountain is no longer under evacuation orders. The Train Mountain south side is now again open to Members provided they follow the Government's Co...

Re: Working Sanders?
I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned the obvious risk of getting sand in the motion and other bearings. I take it you're running on aluminum rail - steel rail is much less slick in the wet. My advice would be to fit dummy sanders if you feel the need but working ones... never.

Re: Restoring a modified Allen 2-4-0 barn find
Probably too late now but I had a similar situation on my full size steam roller some years ago. Someone had kicked over a can of motion oil on the footplate and it had run down into the water tank underneath. Fortunately I noticed it before much, if any, got in the boiler. I didn't want to use a no...

Re: Coppersmithing a Boiler - Southern Railways Bulleid Pacific
There are some 1-1/2" scale locos floating around with copper boilers but they are few and far between for a myriad of reasons. In the U.S.- yes, but in the U.K the majority of 1 1/2" scale locos have copper boilers and some even larger. I re-boilered my 4" scale Hunslet with a coppe...

Re: Mystery Injector
I've got one of those - it was from Double B designs a.k.a Terry Baxter - a great guy. Terry retired a year or two back and his designs have been taken over by Bruce Rice at R.A.Barker Engineering www.rabarker.co.uk Hope this helps.

Re: Live-in Railroad club
I'm pretty sure there was something about selling parcels of land in an old T.M. Gazette - maybe (and only maybe as I'm really searching the grey matter here) it hinged on a change in the zoning? IIRC a year or so back one of the existing adjacent/connected properties was advertised in the Gazette.....

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Lucius, there is already very little clearance between the face of the leading crankpin and the back of the crosshead so just having longer axles and wider axleboxes won't work. You might be able to get away with 1/8" packing pieces between the cylinders and the frames and make the motion brack...

Re: 7 1/2 gauge 4" Hunslet build, Reeves castings
Lucius, I don't have a full set of drawings but I'll try and answer your question re-the 2 types of Buffer beams on the full size ones. The early Dinorwic Quarry Hunslets had shallow buffer beams which were curved at the ends. The last 3, No1(aka Dolbadarn), No2(aka Joan) and Michael all had deep bu...

Re: HUNSLET QUARRY ENGINE BUILD
Actually Reeves supply the castings/drawings for both the 3" scale 'Elidir' and the 4" scale 'Milner Hunslet' - hence the confusion. As both are designed for 7 1/4" gauge the former is 'underscale' for the gauge scaling out at nearly 2' 6" (the real ones were 1' 10 3/4" or 1...

Re: D&RGW short caboose
You're welcome John - glad to help. The friend I mentioned was Ed Rehberg (who was also at Mark's, with his Shay) and although his was a long caboose he might be able to offer advice on construction methods. Hope we meet again.
Cheers,
Ray.

Re: D&RGW short caboose
Westlake Publishing, probably in Narrow Gauge Annual, did an extended article on the D&RGW cabooses maybe 7-8 yrs ago. It had drawings and detail photos and is available for download from http://www.finescalerr.com/. I can't check which issue until I get back to Boise late next week but you can ...
