Re: 1-1/2" Scale Okadee Engine Tender Connection

Jack, I would like to confirm an order for two sets of these beautiful engine/tender connections, for my SOU 4-4-0 built by Frank deSantis in 1982. I will gladly await my turn in what appears to be a long line! Please advise.
With my thanks and best wishes, R. Paul Carey.

Re: 1-1/2" and 3/4" scale re railers

These are/were PORTABLE rerailers, and I would say these rerailers are amazingly accurate replicas of the originals.

They were typically carried on locomotive tenders working remote branches and industrial tracks.

They were NOT carried on locomotives assigned in Main Line passenger service.

Re: Transition Curves

Here's the Track Clinometer, built upon a Mountain Car truck and using a common surveyor's plumb bob. Because of the minimal rolling resistance of this truck, the Clinometer also excels in locating minor variations in grade, as well. From the "Zero Cross-level" mark at the center, the two ...

Re: Transition Curves

As you have done in the past. I have located and maintained "transition curves", also known as "spirals" for smooth entry and exit from curves, all located by eye. I don't have a formula for this purpose. My trackage is 7-1/4" gauge, with a mix of Culp and other rail in scal...

Re: How’d you get here?

Back in 1988, I visited an event at the Empire State Convention Center, where Frank deSantis had an exhibit which included a beautiful 3/4" scale live steam model of NYC&HR 999. I introduced myself, explaining that I was (at the time) General Manager of the road where the prototype was buil...

I would be interested; can you advise scale, pricing, and availability?

Many thanks in advance, for your response.

Re: 1-1/2" Scale 1870 Westinhouse Brake Valve

Jack, I have a 1-1/2" scale Southern 4-4-0 (built by the late Frank deSantis) with working straight air. The prototype was built by Rogers in 1882. Do you have one of these valves available, and if so, may I ask your price? My thanks in advance, for your response. Paul Carey

Re: Steam pressure gauges is there any interest in them?

Adam, I would be pleased to purchase a 200# gauge from you, as such time as one would become available.

This is a firm offer. Kindly advise via PM, when you are ready.

With best wishes,

Paul Carey.

Re: Interesting rail joint

Your image is of a mitre ("miter") joint, to allow for rail expansion in certain critical areas. They are most commonly used in connection with movable rail bridge spans.

Re: Track Standards

I have followed this discussion with interest and submit this link, which illustrates a ride taken over my 1-1/2" scale live steam RR through an old-growth forest at my home in Reedville, VA. Track gauge is 7-1/4" and curves are elevated for a scale speed of 45 mph. I am retired from the r...

Re: Typical Tie Spacing 7-1/X Gauge?

The Sunnybank, Putnam, & Pacific RR is a 7-1/4 gauge live steam RR, representing a "dirt-road" line that never turned a profit but bravely invested others' money in keeping up a "good front" with track maintained for maximum scale speed of 45 mph, in the manner of a certain N...
