Re: Mikado logging engine drawings
The light mikado notably available from Railroad Warehouse was designed by Steve Vitkovits at GGLS. Steve made the patterns and had 5 sets cast which were sold. I don't know if Steve has any left as he sold the plans and patterns to Railroad Warehouse. I think 4 locomotives were built at GGLS and th...

Re: Model Steam Pressure Gauges
I was interested in a duplex gauge for air pressure - reservoir pressure on one side and brake cylinder pressure on the other. I spent a bit of time trying to find someone that made them in scale or nearly scale size. The closest I came was a 2" gauge. These were made in India and I suppose ava...

Re: Alco 3rd Cylinder Valve Linkage
I thought Gresley's conjugated valve gear was rather fiddly and prone to wear with all those levers. I have a 3-cylinder Schools Class locomotive that has inside Walshaerts valve gear and it is just like the outside except that the return crank is an eccentric. It's a Henry Greenly and Earnest Steel...

If you are trying to emulate conduit, contact http://www.kientec.com/ They make conduit down to 1.2mm ID. I've used the 3/16 and 1/4 OD.

Re: Steam turbine generator
If you Google "electrical steel" you will find out all you want to know about silicon-steel. It comes in two principal varieties, grain oriented for transformers and non-grain oriented for motors and generators. I see that most people chop up transformers to get the plates, but that is the...

Re: Injectors - A General Guide to the Model Automatic Injector
As Anthony mentioned, there is a book about the English injector. ISBN: 1 85761 134 9 . It is called "Miniature Injectors, inside and out" by D.A.G. Brown, and published by TEE Publishing Ltd. It is a nice little book and does go through the theory and practice of injectors, and how to mak...

Re: Making 6/32 threaded Rod
Well, I was going from memory. You need #29 drill rod not #36. Victor Machinery has that too as does McMaster and others. Years ago I did what you want to do but with 4-40 and I bought drill rod to do it. It should work fine but you probably should make a punch and die to do it in a press. Nice thin...
