Re: K4 Build
Hi Dan, The cylinder castings were produced by Dan Horting with help from Dave S. It is very nice, and Dan (ebtfan) has posted wonderful build pictures, so I know he has some more photos of the casting and machining process. I'm happy to take additional photos of any details (of anything). I'm unsur...

Re: READING CAMELBACK 0-4-0 CASTINGS FOR SALE
I think another really positive aspect about what Dave is providing to the hobby is that the casting are done; not in development or waiting to be cast. To me this adds even more value. The prospect of sheet metal, tender parts or gingerbread to come as available to order in the future is icing on t...

American Model Engineering Shutting Down
Hello, I called American Model Engineering Supply this morning to order 8-32 Hex Head Bolts and received the message that they are in the process of closing. Seems very unfortunate for them as the message indicated they were closing for medical reasons, but also live steamers. Does anyone have a sou...

Pedestal binder work continues. Binders clamped tight with .005" shim stock. Found edges and subtracted .002" for 1/2 thickness of shims. Center drill, drill and ream to .312. Clean and de-burr frame and binders, insert dowel pins and re-clamp. On to the journal box fabrication.
Pedestal Binders
Fabricated and mounted the pedestal binders this weekend. Next they will receive locating pins. Frames are always clamped flat to the table and parallel to the x axis via a long precision ground plate that is fitted into the rear tee slot. Repeat-ability with higher tolerance work using this double ...
