Remove the compound and make a plinth that bolts to the cross slide in place of the compound for the QCTP to sit on that is the correct height to get the insert on center.

I've been using Solid Edge 2D for years and just love it. It's free 2D CAD only. The 3D version costs money.

Here's a free 2D CAD program, Solid Edge 2D, that I've been using for years now. As do all of the other CAD programs, there's a learning curve to it.

Ken....good tip. I will read thru some previous threads on this. In terms of using an "oversize" VFD this is something I have heard before....not the first time. Would be a bit cheaper if I didnt need to purchase an oversize converter. You don't need to purchase an over-sized VFD as long ...

I can see a brake resistor being more useful on a lathe than a mill, but then I don't have a very big mill. An RF-45 clone.
