Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Hmmm..... I do want to get a few other projects done first, however. And, I seriously need to improve my iron casting qualities. Doable, though. Might take a few years just for the patternmaking.

Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Wow, yeah, that would be cool if the original patterns still existed. If nothing else they could serve as templates to make new patterns to use. Most of those look doable Glenn, guess I've got to step up my game. Here's the thing, even I would have to charge quite a bit for that casting set. How man...

ODF 2.5" scale link and pin couplers

Well, here's a hundred pounds of bronze going into the mail! I still have a bunch of my new 2.5" scale link and pin couplers ready to go. I have 3 sets with the bolt cast in, the rest are plain shank, they will have to be drilled and tapped for the draft gear of your choice. I have 6 sets of those. ...

Re: Woodinville Shops

Thanks, Glenn! Those look great. And, they are actually the right scale for your railway, I made the signs in 3" scale for readability.

And the pile starts to grow... Seven pair cast so far, more to come. I will let everyone know when I am ready to take orders.

Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Yeah, that's a bit larger than I could handle. That's definitely in the commercial foundry range, just from a safety standpoint. That's a lot of iron. And several hundred pounds of sand per mold. Not to say that it would be impossible in an amateur hobby foundry, but difficult. If it were me, this i...

Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Chipsahoy, it would definitely help with making perfect mirror images. Was that just the pattern or the resulting casting?

Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Definitely old school (kinda sorta) pattern making here. I've thought about getting a printer, but I'd use it to make patterns for sandcasting instead of investment. Just out of curiosity, how big is the cylinder block? I am somewhat limited size wise. There's only so much one person can lift safety.

Re: A wish list for large scale castings

Everything? No prob. When would you like it? Haha... I suppose I opened myself up to that. That's the nice thing about being a hobby foundry and doing my own pattern work, small jobs aren't a deal breaker. Might take me a while, though. If you have dimensioned drawings it helps.
Pumps, ok. What else?
